Pricing

To price an image usage

  • Select the currency icon near the image and from the drop down interactive menus, choose the applicable category, media and usage details. This can be done from the search results page, the preview page, the lightbox or the shopping cart.
  • A price for the license will then be calculated for a single usage per image and displayed on the screen.
  • If your image use is not covered by our drop down interactive menus, please contact us to request a quote.

    To purchase a license for an image

  • Place selected image(s) into the shopping basket by selecting the shopping basket icon located near the image from either the search results page, the preview page or lightbox.
  • Click on 'checkout' at the bottom right corner of the screen to complete your purchase.

    Checkout

    Select to finalise payment.

    At CHECKOUT you will be asked to confirm the details of your purchase. You may also input a project name, reference numbers or book title enabling easier tracking of your purchases. This information will appear in your PURCHASE HISTORY. See below for more details on Purchase History.

    Once this is completed you will be directed to our payment facility.

    Payment Facilities

    For each online purchase, you will be required to accept our License Agreement for Images before images can be downloaded.

    This contract in conjunction with the British Museum Images invoice applies to the current sale only.

    Invoicing

    Each time you purchase a license to an image, we will issue you an online invoice.

    Purchase History

    This feature of the British Museum Images website retains a record of all your past purchases from the website.

    By selecting on the relevant purchase reference number you can view a detailed listing of all images purchased with usage details. From the Detailed Purchase History you can also retrieve a copy of the invoice for your records.
